COLUMBUS DANCE THEATRE

Columbus Dance Theatre is a Nationally recognized arts organization. With a significant history of community involvement through it’s professional company, dance school and its role as a leading sponsor of independent artist throughout central Ohio.

Entering its 25th season in 2023-24, CDT features a company of 11 paid professional dancers.

Since 2008, a 30 week contract and season have been established.

The Company has received extensive notoriety and support and has been nominated for the Greater Columbus Arts Council's award for Artistic Excellence on five separate occasions, winning the award in 2015.  CDT has received grants from the Greater Columbus Arts Council for 22 years and from the Ohio Arts Council for 20 consecutive years.

Since it’s inception, over 150 original dances have been created. A longtime partnership with musical ensemble Carpe Diem String Quartet enabled CDT to create truly original works such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, String Machine and Our Town Columbus. CDT was the resident ensemble for Opera Columbus for 5 years.

Through our no child turned away policy, we offer full and partial scholarships as well as offer tuition on a sliding scale to ensure that children can afford quality dance training.

More than 2500 students have participated in the School of CDT since it’s founding.  Our students have been accepted to companies and leading dance programs across the nation.

We believe dance should be accessible to all.
