Admittance into CDT’s ITP and Apprentice/Trainee classes is by permission of the Artistic Director and limited to dancers between the ages of 10-25. CDT’s Intensive Training program is designed for serious students preparing for careers in dance and the arts. Select members of this program will be chosen as Apprentices to the Company. 

The benefits of CDT’s ITP program are that we are able to connect to each student’s abilities and challenge them to keep improving their technique and artistry.

Students study ballet extensively, including pointe, variations, partnering, and men’s work. Extensive training in Modern dance is also part of the program along with the study of Jazz, and, as part of our Summer programs, and Choreography Workshops. The ITP program focuses on mentorship, with professional dancers working with the young dancer toward careers as an arts and dance professional if they so desire. Students have multiple opportunities to perform beside Company members; and annual evaluations and career counseling assist students with important decisions as they reach graduation from the program.

The Intensive Training Programs aspires to provide an enriching program for serious young dancers regardless of their final career aspirations. 

Dress Code for ITP Students:

Girls: Black leotard, pink convertible tights, pink ballet shoes. Note: any color leotard may be worn on Thursdays ("Color Day").

Boys: Black tights, white tights, short tights (optional),  black ballet shoes, white ballet shoes, black jazz shoes (optional), white fitted shirt, dance belt. ITP boys may be asked in advance to provide a nude canvas shoe for a performance. Note: any color fitted shirt may be worn on Thursdays (“Color Day”).
