What brought you here? I was looking around for auditions in the Columbus area and my mom told me she was a guest artist with Columbus Dance Theatre so I decided to audition.

What is your favorite ballet step? Saut De Chat

What is your least favorite ballet step? Pirouettes At The Barre

Outside of dance, what are your hobbies? Going on walks and being outside.

What animal would you be and why? A cat so I could crawl into small spaces to chill out and it be socially acceptable.

What brand of ballet/pointe shoes do you wear? Capezio

What is your favorite random fact? There are more stars in the universe than grains of sand.

What is the worst job you’ve ever had? Hotel Front Desk Agent because I had to be peppy, wear an uncomfortable uniform, deal with people’s (in my personal opinion) unimportant problems, and get yelled at all at 7AM.

What is the first career you dreamed of having as a kid? Professional Dancer

What is one thing you wish you were better at? Turning

What is one of your pet peeves? Pirouettes at the barre

Alex Graban

Alex Graban is excited for his 3rd season with Columbus Dance Theatre!  He began dancing at age 3 at New Albany Ballet Company, training in ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, and tap.  After graduating high school, he joined Columbus Modern Dance Company, and joined Columbus Dance Theatre and Hixon Dance a season later. 

He has choreographed for Columbus Dance Theatre, New Albany Ballet Company, Columbus Modern Dance Company, Weathervane Playhouse, WYART, and Granville High School.  Some of his pieces have been featured in the Columbus Arts Festival and the New Albany Dance Festival.  Alongside dance, Alex has also been involved in musical theatre, onstage and off.  At Weathervane playhouse, WYART, and Granville High School, he has performed in countless shows including Cats, A Chorus Line, In The Heights, The Full Monty, and many more. 

Offstage, he has worked with theatrical lighting, sound, stage management, teaching, and choreography.
